Small town Chinese restaurant ran by a local family. The workers were very attentive to our needs, always making sure we were doing fine. Yes, it's a bit run down, but don't let the appearance fool you. The food is OUTTA SITE!! I had a combination dinner and my friend had two entrees. Service was quick, the food was delicious (hot and seasoned just right), and our every needs were met. If you're looking for some great Chinese food, pay Golden Cafe a visit today.
I have been buying Chinese food from them for many years. They have changed I bought some shrimp fried rice and it was burned. I didn't know until I got it home. It was so awful it ruin our dinner. I had to drive all the way back to get a refund. They didn't offer to compensate me. Nothing worth than eating burned rice. I am done with Golden Gate Cafe.
They dont have shrimp snd broccoli, their lobster sauce looks like cat throw up, the customer service is horrible all i wanted to do was a simple exchange and some dumb ass lady was worried about $1.50 worth of white rice REALLY!?????? dont make no since. I will never visit this hole in the wall chinese place ever again!
I give Golddn Gate four stars primarily for its fantastic old school chow mein, but it's more like a three or three and a half stars. I've been coming here for years now, and it's pretty much hit or miss. Very much your standard Americanized Chinese cuisine.
My friend and I were in the Midway area of St. Paul today (4-2-16) and were looking for a local restaurant to try. Did a Google search and after scrolling a bit we found this restaurant and decided to give it a try.
Not as good as it was back in the day...the owner acts like he doesn't want any more customers ever...was the best Chinese food in St.Paul.
